Agricultural Drone Operator
You fly crop surveys and spray runs, then read the imagery to tell a farmer which corner of the field is in trouble.
What the day actually looks like
- Plan flight paths and check airspace and weather
- Fly survey or spray missions over farmland
- Process imagery into crop-health maps
- Explain the map to the farmer in field terms
The school topics it actually uses
GeographyMaps, scale & distanceGrade 9
SciencePhotosynthesis & plant nutritionGrade 8
These are not adjacent or vaguely related. They are the specific topics the job uses on an ordinary day.
How people get in
Operator licensing plus short vendor training. A genuinely new job that did not exist when your parents left school.
What it pays
Contract rates per hectare; operators often run it as their own business.
Demand
Emerging and expanding across South-East Asian agriculture.
Pay and pathway figures are indicative ranges gathered for this prototype, not verified labour-market data. A production version would source them from national statistics offices and employer partners.
